I'm new to crystal so I hope this makes sense and someone can point me in the right direction, b/c i dont know where to begin. I hope it's a simple solution. I have a report that groups phases of a job and displays their totals:

GH1 Phase Name : Shows Phase Name (alphanumeric field, not in proper sort order for other reasons. i.e. 01, A4, 03, Z, DE)
GH2 Detail Type : Show Type(alpha field i.e. A, B, C)
Details: Shows formula to calculate Cost by date
GF2 Detail Type: Shows the total of cost by detail type
GF1 Phase Name : Shows total cost by phase

so we have:
Phase 01
type A
type A 1/1 $40
type A total $40
type C
type C 1/1 $35
type C 1/3 -$35
type C total $0
Phase 01 total $40

My problem is I don't want to show the phase name (GH1) if the total nets out to zero. I don't know how to get a variable in the GH1 that reflects the totals from below for my suppression. I can easily do it for the details and footer sections. I think I might need to use and array to capture the totals per phase, but since there are a varying number of phases everytime i run the report i don't know how.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Are you trying to suppress all the information for phase 01 if the total cost for it 0?

If so, you could just create a formula in the suppress formula field for the GH1 Phase Name to suppress itself when the total cost is equal to 0.
