Hi, thnkbg,
PageMaker is a page layout application. InDesign is what you need to look at as PM is fast approaching the end of its life.
Photoshop is for editing digital images, which can then be placed in PageMaker or InDesign.
Illustrator is for vector illustrations.
For the complete print and web publishing suite, have a look at Adobe Creative Suite
