Hello All.

Heres one!

I need to create a user who ONLY has access to the Telephone Directory. I created a new Policy named "Receptionist" and gave that Policy NO ACCESS. I then selected "Change" and changed the radio button to "Read/Write" for just the Telephone Directory Form.

I then created the receptionists credentials in User Authorisation Profile and checked JUST the System Admin box. I deliberately unchecked the Group Admin Tool box, for as we know, this would give the user access to many areas of configuration which I need to protect.

When I log in with their new credentials the MCD just keeps returning the Log in Box with no error message.

I returned to the User Authorisation Profile Form and checked the Group Admin Tool box...Guess what...I logged in succesfully (albeit with both Group and System Admin tools to view) The System Admin interface shows only the Telephone Directory Form (in all forms alpha view) which is just what I wanted, but the user could still access the Group Admin Tool after log in if they so wished.

Am I missing something here?...if anyone has advice on how I get just the System Admin option to show on log in I would be eternally grateful!!

Thanks All.

Sorry All...Should have indicated this is on Mitel MN3300 (MCD v.2)

I think you also have to check the desktop box as well as the system admin box for it to work

Had a simalar issue and what was occuring was it did log me in it just popped up the login screen on top so I didn't relize I was logged in. Minimized the login screen and all was well?

Agree with caknfd, the you get logged in but the login screen brings itself to the front again appearing as if you haven't logged in.

It is less apparent in windows 7 with grouping on the taskbar

Thanks Supernova...Tried that as well, but the Desktop Tool checkbox is grayed out by virtue of the fact that the Receptionist does not have a IP Handset or directory number against her profile. Anyhoo the Desktop Tool would still give the User access to the type of configuration I wish to shield.

Thanks Craig, Thanks Sarond

Didn't even think of that!...I will check behind the dialogue box. It did not occur to me that the main interface may have auto minimised to the taskbar (we are still XP Pro).

Cheers guys

Rob.
