Does anyone know how to define\create permissions of a shared folder WITHIN a shared folder?

Win2k SP4 Adv Srv - created share D:\Data with permissions of full control to Domain Admins and DBMktg group. Within this D:\Data folder I now have a "Weekly" folder that needs to be shared as 'read-only' to a seperate group of users, while still allowing full control by Domain Admins & DBMktg group.

Created the "Weekly" share, granted read-only access to the specified user groups, for security set same as D:\Data share (Domain Admin & DBMktg - full control).

Also tried adding 'everyone' to D:\Data share with 'List Folder contents' no change at all.

just share d:\data to everyone, and set the security for the folder to full control to Domain Admins and DBMktg group. then the weekly folder share it to to everyone, and set the security for the folder NOT to inherit permissions from the folder above, and set security to full control to Domain Admins and DBMktg group and readonly for the seperate group of users (create another group for them)

so the Domain Admins and DBMktg group can connect to the d:\data share and the other users can connect to weekly, and will only have read rights.

Thanks Pinand! That was just the information I needed - it worked perfectly, giving the proper access to the those groups.

Your explanation was clear and greatly appreciated!

Patty
