Hello All

I wish to create a password macro for a form that edits library data so that only authorised people can make the necessary edits and deleted.

Thanking you all in advance

Hi

Not a direct answer, but...

Why not have at table which lists the (Network) user ids of the users who can edit / delete, then look up the logged in users id, and search the table to see if edits/deltes allowed, you can use .AllowEdits and .Allow Deletions properties of the form to allow/disallow edits/deletes

There is a function to retrieve network user log in id, post back if you need to know how to find it

This approach is much more maintainable and will not irritate users by requiring them to remember yet another password

Hello Ken

Many thanks for you swift reply.

The computer is a stand alone so no network solutions are required. I want to go through this procedure simply to see if setting password protection on a form works successfully.

Is there anyone out there who can help? I'm not even sure if it is possible to just password protect a form without password protecting the database in the usual way with priviledges etc.

Really no need to password protect. Only make Admin and yourself able to utilize by going into security users/groups and remove them from that form. Or just make the users/groups read only users.

Hope this helps.
