Greetings all. :)

I am trying to create a movie database to catalog all the movies we have in our collection. It seems simple enough, since all I need is the title of the movie, the reference number of the tape we recorded it on, and a position number indicating where the movie is on the tape.

The complication comes in when I want to add a picture of the movie's VHS/DVD cover, and use all the fields above to make a pictorial catalog I can print out for easier reference.

I tried added an OLE Object field in my master table, and then created a report using the wizard. However, the picture doesn't appear at all. The report only displays the Windows icon indicating that its a picture, but not the picture itself.

Can Access 2000 do what I want it to do? Or will I have to explore another avenue to develop this??

Thanks in advance for any input you may have.
Happy programming. :)

Two quick quetions to help you solve this....

1. If you put the OLE object into a form, does the picture display there?
2. What format is the graphic in? .jpg, .bmp, etc

I also found the following help file in Access Help...

I want to see the content of my object in my form or report, but I see an icon instead.

1 Open the form in Design view or the report in Design view.
2 Click the icon.
3 On the Edit menu, point to the appropriate Object command (for example, point to Worksheet Object for a Microsoft Excel object), and then click Convert.
4 In the Convert dialog box, clear the Display As Icon check box.

Hope this helps you out..

Thanks for your reply, Robert! :)

In answer to your questions:

1. When I put the OLE object in a form, the picture does NOT display.

2. Some of the pics are jpg, and some are gif.

I will also try your tips from the Access Help. Any further input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

OK....I created a small table, and added an OLE Object Type to the table, along with an ID number. I inserted a few id numbers then added the graphics as follows:

Right clicked the OLE Object box and selected Insert Object. I checked the box to link the file, and made sure the DIsplay as Icon was unchecked. I navigated to a few differet graphics (.bmp and .jpg) and clicked ok.

I think built a small form and report and the picture sappeared fine. Some were VERY slow to load, as I selected bigger pictures. Outside of this, I am at a loss.
