Creating a Ghost image of the server.

Hi,

I have an HP-UX server. It has a tape backup. I would also like to make a Ghost image of this machine. It does not have a CD burner, but it is attached to a windows 2000 network. I have VERY limited knowledge of HP-UX. I am trying to do somebody a favor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was actually gonna try and boot up with a network bootable floppy (win98) and then ghost the image from the HP-Unix box to my win2000 server.

Thanks for the tip, but this doesn't seem to fit the bill. I need to make an exact copy of this server and retain all it's current files. An additional obstacle here is that I don't have a floppy drive in the HP box. What I do have is a network connection to a windows network. The HP-UX server has very little room left on it. As a last resort, I will pull the drives from the HP server and put them into a windows machine and then Ghost them. I was hoping to avoid that. I was hoping there was some way I could do this over the wire...

1. You can't boot an HP system running HP-UX with a floppy to run any flavor of Windows.

2. Ignite *can* back up every file in your root volume group onto your recovery media.

3. You might be able to pull the trick of putting all the HP-UX disks in a Windows machine and Ghosting them. Let us know how that works out!

I did something similiar with SUN, but put spare drives in the sun box, booted to single user mode on the cd and did a dd from the old drives to the new.
