Hi
Is it possible to create a formula for a mergefield in a word document. I need to show 25% of an amount paid for Gift Aid e.g if paid £500 need to show Gift aid claimed will be £125
Thanks

We probably need some additional details, Crystalamateur.

What version of Word? What is your data source? Could you do the computation at the source and then import the results?

Hi Crystalamateur,

This is quite straightforward - once you know how.

To create the formula in Word:
. select your mergefield, which will look something like «Gift»;
. press Ctrl-F9 to wrap another field around it, thus - { «Gift» };
. edit the field so that you get {=«Gift»/4 \# "£,0.00"};
. position the cursor anywhere in this field and press F9 to update it;
. run your mailmerge.

Note: the precision of the displayed value is controlled by the '0.00'. You can use anything from '0' to '0.000000000000000'.

When it comes to Fields, macropod is tops. Darn, I know I have a bookmark to his fantastic document on using Fields somewhere.....

Thanks for posting...again. I will archive this one (although I thought I already had).

Everyone else, these are indeed the best documentation of Word fields anywhere.
