We want to send out an email to our customers with an offer, but we would like to have a barcode on the coupon to make sure that each is unique. I know how to do all the rest, just need to know how create a bar code on the emailed document using Word.

Thanks in advance.

Hi JPL,

To create a barcode you need a barcode font. Google barcode font free 3 of 9 extended to choose a free downloadable font.

If you want to be able to read the barcode via a barcode scanner/reader, then you must enclose the characters between two asterisks *. For example, if the barcode is to be 123456, you would enter *123456* Highlight this code and apply the barcode font to it. You can enter the characters again below the barcode itself without the asterisks in a non-barcoded font.

Example
*123456* (in barcode font)
123456 (in Arial or some other non-barcoded font)

Apparently Word may adjust your character spacing causing the barcode to be unreadable, and it is recommended by some to use Wordpad instead. I have successfully created barcodes in Crystal, Access, and Excel without incidence.

Hope this helps,
Lori

Meagain, each of the sites I found wanted to download other stuff, or were block by my companies security software. Would you have a specific site that I could use.

Thanks for your help.
