I have a total of nine variables that can populate a formula in response to a database query:

The formula outputs like this:

Response1
Response2
Response3
Response4
Response5
Response6
7
8
9

I need to have the output be like this:

Response1 Response6
Response2 Response7
Response3 Response8
Response4 Response9
Response5

I need the column output to line up on a secondary column. The problem is that sometime I will have 1 response, 3 responses or 9 responses. I want to design the field area to be a certain size, and then create a secondary column to display anything beyond the 5th place holder.

Anyone have an idea how to implement the output so it will wrap around in column form (similar to Word functionality with columns)?

Please let me know if you need any other info. Thank you in advance.

To create a multiple-column report
Open then report you want to format with multiple columns.
On the Report menu, click Section Expert.
In the Section Expert, highlight Details, and then select Format with Multiple Columns.
A Layout tab is added to the Section Expert.

Click the Layout tab and set the Width you want your column to be.

Hope this helps.

I have tried that, but it ends up messing up my entire report.

I just need this one sub-section to have a column, the rest of the report (all the other stuff in the detail section) must not be placed within a column.

Is there a way to just to do this with one formula within an entire report? Or apply this to just one detail section?

I think we need more information.

If you only have 3 responses will they be in variables response1 - response3 or might they be scattered as response1, response5, response9.

Also you said "I want to design the field area to be a certain size". Can you explain this further?

If one of your response fields will not populate your formula does that mean the field is null?

What does your formula look like.

We need to know your overall report structure, including groups and where (what section) you want this wrapping column to appear. Are there any other fields in this section, etc.?
