Does anyone have the procedures for creating a back-up company prior to final close processing?

We have a MS-SQL system with Macola 7.6.100a.

Thanks

Check out infomine doc# 00.936.663 on the customer portal.

Thank You for your reply.

This system is being expired and so the maintnenance has expired. I don't have access to the Customer Portal. That's why I was asking here.

There are several methods to accomplish this, "assuming" your only intrest is the GL year end process:

Option 1) Export your GL Tables & System Period Table prior to performing the year end close. The system period table contains the flag for temp close. If a processing problem occurs you can Initialize your GL files and re-import the GL / SYS Period text files using standard Macola System Manager. (Always have a verified backup of your DataBase)

Option 2) Create a DTS / SQL script to make copy to the GL tables & System Period(backup)and their data prior to running year end. Create a second Script to clear the tables and copy the data back. The second script would only be used if the year end process failed.

Option 3) Make a backup Database of your SQL company after all activity for the day is completed(ususally after hours). Do the GL year end close after hours. If a problem is encountered you would restore the entire database. Most elect to do this.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A GOOD BACKUP and verify these steps using a test company.

IF your Intrest is to Create an "Archive Company" where all data is accessable you can do the following (Cliff notes version of Infomine):

1) create a backup of the production company using Enterprise manager.
2) Using Macola PRogression Setup Utility, Create a new Company.
3) Do a Restore (force) of your production database against the new Company you created in step 2.

4) Using Macola go the NEW company your created and Change the company Name / Display information in system manager
