Hi ,

I want to invoke a file (pdf or xls)in my browser (IE6). To realise this I have created a virtual directory in IIS (version 6 on a Win XP Pro machine) which points to the specific directory which contains the file (eg. file.pdf). The directory however does not contain a document like index.htm or default.htm. When I invoke the file via a URL in the browser (Like the browser is displaying that the page cannot be found.

Does anyone have a workaround or gotcha which could solve this problem ??

THanks

Jack

allow directory browsing
IIS MMC open the folder properties -> Check Directory Browsing.

or as a far better method.

have a script on default.asp to read the files in the folder and display them as links.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

TOo bad. Tried it and it did not work. If anyone could provide me with a sample default.asp script I would be very delighted.

Thanks
