create user in GAL that is just an external email address 1

Hi,

This is probably elementary, but I need to create users that show up in the GAL, but are not accounts on the server, as they are just external user email addresses, such as AOL, etc. There are a couple in my active directory now, and they are listed as "contacts" in the "type" column, but I'm at a loss of how they were created. I know it's simple, I must be brain dead.

Any help as always is greatly appreciated!

In Active Directory User's and Computer's, right-click on the container in which you want to create the contact and select from the context menu:

New -> Contact

You'll want to use the Exchange version of ADU&C, which is typically installed from the Exchange installation media.
