Hopefully, this is a valid question;

Upon viewing the folders on the local disk drive (C:), the columns are;

Name
Size
Type
Date Modified

Is it possible to create a "Description" column via code?

Other option is to just reorganize the approximately 120 folders.

A description Column already exists. If you right click on the heading you get a menu with additional fields. Click on "More.." at the bottom and there is a description field in there.

Description" field is not displayed.

Thanks for the insight.

Additional question - how can I manually type in text in the "Description" field?

Also, is it possible to populate the "Description" field using vba code, etc.?

In Excel you can certainly use File,Properties|Custom to set comments that can be seen as described by Molby.

In VBA:
ActiveWorkbook.Comments = "My comment2"

I don't see where folders can carry a comment like files can, which is something new for me, so great question and greater answer. Are the folder names not descriptive? Can you use Tile view?

Wanted to provide descriptions to the over 50 pre-existing folders on the C:\ drive.

However, it appears that I can readily add folders such as "description" but cannot actually add descriptive text so that the "description" column is populated.

No, the folder names are not descriptive as they should be.

Maybe, that is the option worth exploring if the "description" column cannot be populated.
