When i try running create new year, I get the message "Account Fiscal Set.Record Already Exists' and the process stops. I have restored earlier backups and the error seems to reccur
Somebody must have done a partial new year creation, then deleted the restart record. Edit GLAFS and delete any records for the new year, and run Data Integrity check when you're done.
Hi,
I queried GLAFS for any 2012 records but i could not find any. i then ran Data Integrity and found the following errors (Attached).I run create new year again but to no avail. Could these be the cause of the error?
You have serious data problems, I'm sure from a database or server crash sometime this year. You need a professional to fix your data. Do you have a good local Accpac consultant?
Yes we do, but they are not reliable! They take a whole week to respond to a query. How come I am able to dump my data without any hitches, although I have never tried doing a data load using any of the dumps?
Dump and load won't fix logical errors like this. Your fiscal sets and posted transactions are out of synch, probably the worst thing that can happen to a G/L. In other words, GLPOST and GLAFS don't agree, and it takes detailed data forensics to figure out which one is right, so that the other one can be corrected. I've fixed this problem many times in my career, sometimes it was easy, sometimes it wasn't.
I suspect this error happened months ago, so your backups aren't any help. Do you remember a server crash last July?
Well that's tough. Worst thing?! Yes I remember there were some regular power outages at that time that our UPS's/Generator could not handle. Does this mean going through the GLPOST and GLAFS tables and looking for disparities between them? I know that wont be easy. Should the data integrity results guide us in knowing what transations might be out of sync?
Yes, the DIC report tells you exactly where the problems are. Now you need to compare that to what your accountants say your trial balances should be for each month. It won't be pretty, don't count on creating the new year for at least a week.
Thanks Tuba2007, I was able to go through both GLAFS and GLPOST tables with my accountant and managed to rectify the problems, which were disperities between the two tables. I was then able to run the create new year successfully.
