Can someone explain how I can configure additional VLAN's (i.e. VLAN 10 and 20) on an existing 2948G with VTP configured? The new VLAN's will not be routed to our network. It will need to be routed to a DSL router. This will act as a separate network segment. Please advise.

Should be the same as creating any other vlan on the 2948 . SET vlan XXX slot/port . If you have multiple vlans that have to go to this dsl connection then you will need a router of some type to connect to and then have 1 connection down to the dsl router .

I followed your guidline. However, the ports assigned to the new VLAN are showing up as inactive(orange).

Since this 2948G switch is already configured as a VTP client on an existing network, do I need to change it to transparent mode first before I create the private VLAN which will be routed to the DSL router(DHCP enabled)? This segment will be on the DSL subnet. Will the new VLAN information be broadcasted to the existing trunk port linking to our network? I'd like to keep this segment seprate if possible.

Thanks for the assistance!

You have to look on Cisco's web site and configure switch in VTP.
