Hello

I have following problem and I didn't find anything in the forum.

I want to create a excelsheet with my data which I have read from an oracle table.
(The data are show in a table on a web page and the user can click on a link to create the excelsheet with this
data).

Is this possible with tcl?

Thanks for any help!

Thomas

Thank you marsd

But I have problems to install the tcllib under our
sun solaris system. We have a Content Management System
who can handle tcl but I don't know how to integrate the
tcllib!

I call the support and then I will see what I can do!

Hi vignette1,

if Your application runs on a sun solaris system, i see no easy way to generate the native excel file format. The tcom solution suggested by marsd is limited to windows platforms. Excel does however handle csv and HTML plain text formats reasonably well. Therefore i would suggest writing the oracle table into a comma separated format and ask your users to open it with excel.
Other options seem too complicated, such as calling a tcl server-application using tcom on a windows server ....

Cheers,
Tobias

Hi gabele

Thanks for your info. Do you have a solution
for writing the data into a csv file in tcl?
