Create a view AS....?

I need to know how to create a table/view using an already existing table.

Is it possible to use something like:

CREATE VIEW newTable AS
SELECT * FROM oldTable
WHERE field1 = 1;

Which will then allow me to use
SELECT * FROM newTable;

Any ideas?

MySQL does not support views.

If you just change 'CREATE VIEW...' to 'CREATE TABLE...'
your statement will work.
