I am trying to find a report that will show a matrix or crosstab of the resources down the left of a page, the dates across the top of the page and where a certain column and row meet will be the task that resource is to do on that day.

I am trying my best to have our Foreman agree to throw away the pencil and paper timesheet matrix (which is a simple printed MS Word table that they hand-write, each week, the "MS Project" scheduled work for the coming two weeks) and instead to go with a report from MS Project. Our Forman open the resource pool and scheduled works file in MS Project and then hand-write the information on their printed table. Just too old school for me to continue with!! We may a well just schedule with pencil and paper too (if I cant show them that MS Project can produce a report of exactly what they are hand-writing)

The Resource of Task Usage views and the calendar views are unable to produce the information that our Forman require.

I need more like an excel spreadsheet where Column A = Resources and Row 1 = Dates. Then the cells that align with the resource and the date will show the task for the day, similar to that of a times table situation.

Please help me change their old ways to a better MS Project way.

I have also tried this in a testdrive of P2007 but still can not get the task name to appear, i can only get the work hours to appear.

You can do that using VBA (as long as you understand TimeScaledData). It's more work than I'm prepared to do here ... there are a number of Project VBA consultants who could do this for you for a fee ("our exhorbitant but fair and usual fee"). It's a day ... maybe two ... of work.

Yes, i know nothing about VBA code.

To me, it seems like a simple request of Project, especially seeing the complex reports that i can create and P2007 is even better/able to be customised more with the Visual Reports.

I was really hoping that i just wasnt looking in the right areas.
