Hi,

I want to create form fields in my PDF files. I have Adobe Acrobat 6.0 standard. Is this enough?

Thanks

Yes

Sorry, but no.

In order to CREATE the form fields - you must have Professional version 6, or 7 (5 wasn't broken into multiple products yet).

Any version can use the form fields created.
Reader can not save the data entered into the form fields.

Apologies for my over hastey post - I am using 5.05 and as you say it wasn't split into multiple products so it will do this - I was unaware that 6.0 onwards had been split this way. Some less charitable people may say that it stinks of profiteering, but not me....

If I just want to create forms, should I just look for a used copy of Adobe Acrobat 5.X and downgrade? It should be A LOT cheaper right?

Or is there enough new featurs in professional version that warrents such a purchase. Or is there an upgrade I can buy for Standart -> Professional?

You can upgrade if you'd like to.

I am partial to: version 6 professional.

I now have 7 professional as well. I keep them loaded on different machines. They have broken out the form creation into a whole different program "Designer" which is all based on XML. They have left the Acrobat Form tools (burried a little deep in the menus) in addition to the new method. I am unsure how long Adobe will continue to support the "old" way and the "new" way.

While Designer has some cool new features - they are not all compatible with the older versions of reader.

Hope this helps make the decision an educated one - even if we can't make it easy.
