Create a database file using VB.NET

Is it possible to create a database file using VB.Net?

I want to be able to create a database file in code, then create the tables later.

I have tried the 'CREATE TABLE tablename' as a SQL statement but it requires a connection but the file hasn't been created to connect to.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
