I have been working with Crystal Reports for maybe a week now. This seems like it should be easier than I am making it out to be but here is what I would like help with.

I think showing the results I would like first will help me describe this problem I am having.....

Daily HRS Total HRS
1.00 1.00
3.00 4.00
7.00 11.00
6.00 17.00
5.00 22.00

I have been looking at this for a day now and I have gotten nowhere. I would really like to know how to get the Total HRS column to take the values from Daily HRS and keep a running total of the hours. I don't know much about Crystal Reports yet, so I expect to be asking plenty more questions in the future.

Thanks......

That was exactly what I tried, but have been unable to figure out.

I will be MUCH more specific. The Daily HRS field is a formula that adds values from a row. When I try to create the running total for Total HRS, the @DailyHRS formula is not included in the list. I don't know if that is a formula that I cannot use or what, but I would like to know why it isn't showing up? Every other formula I have created is on there. But that specific one is not.

All info is GREATLY appreciated.......Thanx

hi Daily HRS Total HRS
@DailyHRS @Rtotal(running total field)
1.00 1.00
3.00 4.00
7.00 11.00
6.00 17.00
5.00 22.00
is this what you have?
Can you paste your dailyhrs formula so we can see what you have in it

thanks

Well, it's all good, but the running total field isn't on the report yet.

Contents of @DailyHRS.....
{#Drafting}+{#Drafting OH}+{#Drafting OH OT}+{#Drafting OT)

Thanks for all your help.......

Hey there.....

Well I tried to create the new group, but I still could not find my formula in the list. The formula is listed in the Field Explorer window when I expand the Formula Fields, it also works on the report when I run it. But everytime I look to reference the formula, anywhere, it is not there.

Once again, your help with this is greatly appreciated....

You can't group on formulas containing running totals, and it looks like your formula consists of the addition of four different running totals. Go into the field explorer->running total-> and check each running total in the formula to see what the reset is. I'm guessing you'll find that they are reset at a certain group level, probably a group based on date (daily).

Since you now want to evaluate the same information at a higher level, maybe based on a week's (or month's) worth of data, just create four new running totals exactly like the other ones except change the reset to a group based on that higher order date grouping (week or month) or to reset never if you want the running total at the report level.

Then create a second formula adding the four new running totals together. Now if you place this on the report canvas it should give you the running total you want.
