I was wondering if anyone could give me more insight into why I keep getting a CRC error, and what I would need to do to get this issue resolved. We are most likely using a 16-bit CRC check. The following is from the log file:

Media Name: "Media created 3/9/2005 08:00:06 PM"
Backup set #1 on storage media #1
Backup set description: "Data Backup: Diff (M-Th)"
Backup Type: DATABASE - Back Up Entire Database
Backup started on 3/9/2005 at 8:00:34 PM.

Storage device "ARCHIVE 1" reported an error on a request to write data to media.

Error reported:
Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

You might also try a cleaning tape. You didn't mention if you tried cleaning the heads or not. Another question would be how old in both age and wear are your tapes?
