Hi Guys

I have an Acer Aspire 9304 laptop which has crashed for no reason. I am in possession of a set of 7 recovery disks supplied from Acer but unfortunately, nothing happens when I boot the computer.

My question is, if I do a fresh install of a new operating system (I have a licensed version of Windows XP), will this delete a partition I created on my existing hard drive?

I appreciate this is a Windows Vista forum but that was the original operating system and I no longer have the disk.

Regards

You should be fine unless you did a complete reformat obliterating the partition somehow.

What is your preference, to have Vista, to have XP, or to have a dual booting computer?

You Vista recovery options may been on some Recovery Partition, rather than on CD? Have you set the Bios to Boot from CD ahead of the hard drive?

If you are going with XP as a fresh install instead of Vista then these might help you.

Hi linney

I may have found an alternative sollution to recovery but I'm still waiting for the software. When I get a result I'll post back as it may help someone else in the future.

Kind regards
