I have an outgoing trunk line that whenever we use it (Often) the distant end has trouble hearing the operator. Is there a change I can make to increase the outgoing signal? I have verified that compared to other trunks and lines, it is VERY quiet to the receiver. We can hear the distant end fine, they can't hear us.

I'm not an expert on trunking by any means, but I believe there is a parameter either in the trunk group or the individual trunks that deals with attenuation - I believe it is ATNTYP and is usually set to CO for copper stuff - I would have to look at the rest. I am not sure if you can mess with that for an individual trunk or if you make a change to one and they all change, but that might have an impact on your issue.

Code:
ATNTYP : ATTENUATION TYPE (SEE AMO TREF)
CHARACTERISTIC : OPTIONAL
VALUE TYPE : IDENTIFIER
CONVERSION TYPE : EVALUATION OF TEXT (MASK INDEX)
POSS. VALUES : CO CENTRAL OFFICE
               COLOW CENTRAL OFFICE LOW LEVEL
               COLONG CENTRAL OFFICE LONG LOOP
               CTSAT COMBINATION TIE-TO-SATELLITE
               TO TANDEM OFFICE
               SATL SATELLITE
               TIE TIE TRUNK

Just a shot in the dark to check out. IF currently at COLOW try CO first, and then COLONG. If at CO now try COLOW first and then COLONG. I don't think it really means "low level" - I think it means "low loss". COLONG is probably for if you are a long way from the CO.

Oh. ATNTYP is in your TACSU or TDCSU record for the trunk. I assume it's analog so it would be TACSU.

If it is an analog line then you need to disconnect the PBX and all other equipment from it - test with a plain ordinary telephone to see if the levels are still low.

If the levels on that are OK then test the Operator handset ?

It increased it enough to hear now. Thank you!
I went from COLOW to CO.
