Crackling, popping noise and hiss on Avaya IP SOE (401 NG)

This is kind of weird

It’s a little IPO SOE 4T 8A 3VCM that came packaged with 2.0 (16), I did the update step by step to 4.0 (14).

I’m running vmpro and this happens.

When calling from extension to extension, your first hear a ring back, later a big crackling noise (like a horse gallop), till the other party answers.

When calling from outside, you first hear the Auto Attendant, and later the same crackling noise, and later when party answers you hear a strong and short hiss and call can be established, or can be cut.

Any hints?
This is happening with 4.0 (5), (10) and (14)
[And maybe that in earlier steps of upgrade too, but I did not document it]

Does it happen on 3.2 as well? Did you upgrade from 3.2 to 3.2.999 and then 4.0?
It is not a issuen om SOE as i have upgraded several without a problem.

Well, now its grounded, and so are the data devices.
But the lone ranger on his horse keeps the same.

the only thing i see as new is a WLL wireless phone line that could be causing the problem. but that wouldnt explain internal calls.

Could it be A-law / U-law issue?

And, I have never done it, but could i set the analog trunks to Ground Start even it help manual says it's intended for the AMT 16 analog module?

setting the trunks to ground start will only help if they are ground start. if you put a buttset on and get dialtone they are loop start. if you put a buttset on and touch one lead to ground and get dialtone they are ground start.

What lines are you using ? If ISDN & you unplug them from the system then call extn to extn, os the fault still evident ?

What sort of handset?

Take Care

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Hello to All

I move this little SOE to our labs, and what do you believe...

everything is running fine, absolutely no noise, and now I'm thinking what kind of test must be done on customers facilities, since it's a recent building no big ground problems should exist.

I could say that the problem is not on the pbx.

Then it must be a cabling issue

maybe your MoH was the crackling or the radio station was not tuned in right on the site and now that you have it in the lab there is silence instead.

Is ADSL internet running on the same line wich is connected to the SOE?
