Hello All

This is just nuts. Am I the only one that has problem with CR10 Advanced Developer edition running on XP professional with SQL server 2000. Here is the problem in detail.

Create a new report. MAke a ODBC connecton. Choose a table.
Pick field or two. Go to designer and move few fields there. Create a parameter. Drag parameter to a reports.
Run the report. Everything is great data is diplayed. Now I click on refresh button. It is asking me if I want to use existing parameter or new value. I click a new value it works fine. I can do this million times and the parameter window will show up with no problem.
Now I save the report. Exit CR.
Open CR loadmy report. I click on refresh it is asking me if I want to use current parameter setup or a new. I say new. Paramter window opens and I put a new value. Now I have a screen to log on to the SQL server database. Everything is great. Data is displayed. I click on the refresh button again. I get a windows asking me if I want current parameter or a new parameter values. I choose new and NOTHING HAPPENS HERE. Paramter window will not open again until I exit CR. Open it and then it will only open once and that's it. I have given all the permissions that I can possobly give on a table and still it will only open once per CR seesion.
Is this a bug or I am doing something wrong.
Never had a problem with CR9 when it comes to this.

Thanks a lot
Alex

Interesting buglet.

In CE 8.5 there was a problem with a datetime type parameter being the first parm (or only parm) when running an Active-X control.

Try another parameter typeas a test.

Also you never mentioned using the parm in the record selection, if you don't include it in the record selection it won't do anything but display anyway.

Alex,

In the previous thread on this issue, I provided a link to report this as a bug. Did you log it as a bug and did you receive any response from Business Objects?

My experience with CD/BO is that most of their tech-support staff is competent & helpful but there are severel technical issues that are not disclosed publicly or even in their own tech support database. They sometimes have to contact the top internal experts to find out about these issues but if you provide a clear case, they will follow up and let you know.

Cheers,

I did send them a bug report. I even created a report and attached it. There is no response. I guess I just have to wait and see.

Senseial yer not losing it...

They do have some kind'o'bug there - I found the same problem plus a related one 15 minutes into testng a v10.dev.full today (March 22, version 10.0.0.533) that was installed side-by-side of an 8 >> 8.5 >> 9.0 dev.upgrade.

I think the fault in the RDO type connections that use SQL Server logins; I say that because I can reproduce the "prompt for new parameter values" problem and another one (inability to use the "Default Values..." button in the "Edit Parameter Field" dialog) repeatatively using a report file that uses teh RDO connection method to SQL Server with SQL Server authentication - while Integrated Security via ROD works and both SQL Server & Integrated Security works via ADO... All test reports were created from scratch in v10; identical selects parameters against Northwind.Customers.CustomerID >=.

If I open one of the other test reports first - I can refresh and select new parameter values... up until I open the RDO/Sql Server report. Then none of the refreshes across any of the previously working refreshes work until you get out and get in...

I did submit a bug note earlier; guess I'll re-submit this text if their interface is polite...hey it even remembers the last bug... i hope that doesn't mean we can only report one'a'bug'a'time...

Also saw odd issue in File/Save As: it shows icons which is odd for my workstation's settings and won't switch to details view.... And sometimes Refresh just doesn't work at all...

I am having the same problem with v10 - I run the report on the first refresh no problem then I try to change parameters and the report doesn't work. I changed ODBC and the report works fine - close out of crystal and reopen and you are back to having the report refresh one time only. - but it only seems to happen on XP machines - as I have a client that has the exact same issue, however they can run the reports no problem on other OS's on other machines - is there a way to fix this problem???? ( can i use v9 to run the reports on the XP machine)

Ran into same problems as orig poster...
- CR 10 AdvDev
- XP Pro (SP1)
- MSDE/SQL Server 2000

Problems with not only losing the parameter prompt dialog,
but also other ones...such as closing the Preview view
and not being able to get it back (Ctrl+R or F5 from
Design view).

CR 10 SP1 (and the Monthly HotFix updated Oct 2005)
seemed to have fixed it.

Also the README for both SP1 and the Hotfix
hint that there were "show dialog" problems
with XP having to deal with simultaneous loading
of diff versions of comctl32.dll...

What happens if instead of closing CR, you use Database-> Log Off Server to close the connection? I know it is not a solution, but I am curious if this would cause it to reset.
