Hi,

I'm trying to publish a report using CRServer and I have absolutly no idea how this thing works.

The main problem so far is when I use the Publishing Wizard. In the "help" it says that by default the "From type of file" in the open file dialog should be .rpt for some reason my default type of file is .pdf and I dont have .rpt in the list and even when I chose "show all files" and add a .rpt the apps don't seem to recognize .rpt file. It's a little bit odd since this is suppose to be the main purpose of the application.

Any help will be more then welcom

OK,, you "made", the report using the developer,, and saved the report to the CRServer. The publishing wizard should pick it up and go on. Now when you use the developer to design the report,, you can save it to the sever, directly to the web interface, so you can then hit the web site and see the final results. You can also, go thru the management console to change any options you need to.

Ok I think I need to explain a bit more how and what I'm trying to do.

CRS is installed on a Win2003Server. The only applications installed on that server are the applications you can find on the CRS DVD,SQL 2005 and VS2005. I don't have a "devlopper" version of Crystal Report on that computer.

I copied a report from an other computer to that server (a report made with CRv10)

When I try to add that report to the Publishing Wizard I dont have the option to choose a .rpt file (here is a link of what the window looks like as you can see .rpt file are not an option)

If I choose to show "all files" in that window I'm able to add the .rpt but unfortunatly when I get to the second step of the wizard I don't have any options related to a rpt files (for exemple parameters) the application don't know what to do with a .rpt (here is an other link of what the second step of the wizard looks like:

I'm also having a really hard to time finding any form of help/readme or step by step for CRS.

Thanks in advance.

Well we are on XI,,, the publisher recognizes the .rpt. I do not have any experience on previous versions. What version is the publisher. I would assume 10,, but I am just guessing. You can call CR, my experience with the help line is they are over somewhere in the far east. While it did take serveral calls,, my problem was resolved.

Well no the publisher is XI, I don't what plan of services we have with tell but I guess I will try to call them. Thanks.

Sorry about the last sentence I meant:

Well no the publisher is XI, I don't know what plan of services we have with them but I guess I will try to call them. Thanks.

Hi,

I know licensing will do this if you are not licensed for CR on BO Enterprise but since you use CR Server, it must be something else.

You could do this from the CMC (admin web console). Go to Objects and click New Object. You should see Report as the first option then just browse for it.

Let me know if that works.
