CR-page numbering formula

Hi all,

I'm trying to join two reports together. The page number on the second report needs to start off at page 6 instead of 1, because I'm joining two reports. What kind of formula would I use to get this done? Or can this be done at all? I was thinking of creating a formula so that the second report starts at page number+5.

You can't join reports, but you can make one a subreport of the other by placing it in the report footer.

Let the main report handle the page numbering, it should do fine.

Thanks for the quick reply. My apologies, I should've made myself more clear. Actually, I have created two reports, and I'm joining them in a PDF file presentation. Essentially two reports become one (not joining in Crystal) in PDF. Thus, I wanted the page number continue through the second report. Hope that clarified the issue I was having. I assume that you're doing this in some Adobe product, so you might post it there.

You can change the starting page number within the second report if you know the last page number in report one by using something like:

pagenumber+5 & " of " & totalpagecount+5

Where 5 is the first reports page number.

Perfect! So I would enter this formula in the formula section and the second report should start at page 6? I shall try it out!

Yeah, place the formula in the page footer in lieu of the existing page number.

I must have done something wrong. I tried to write the formula in place of the existing page number. From the looks of it, it accepted the formula, and the page flickered several times, but the page number remained the same.

Not sure what you had in the exisitng page number formula, or where you are attempting to do this.

Create a new standard formula, and place the formula in there.

It says, "missing variable type."

I followed your instructions and created a new standard formula. So within my FUNCTION bracket, I entered the formula you gave, and an error prompted.

There shouldn't be a function bracket.

Create a new formula and place exactly what I'd given in my example, please don't assume any other functions/requirements.

If it does not work, paste in what you tried.

You might also post in your Crystal version.
