Dave -
I checked out the link this morning, and I saw the docs. I just checked out, and they took the docs down.

~Brian

oops - probably not supposed to be public yet. I know I'm not done testing it yet ;)

~Kurt

Very interesting... I thought it was a little strange to have the docs up with no news of a set release date.

Well, they'll have to come and get them from me now. MOOHOOHAHAHAHAHA....

-dave

Blast I missed them.

Vidru anything interesting in the documents.

Well, there's more information about the dynamic and cascading parameters, but I haven't had time to look through it thoroughly yet.

There are some other interesting things, but I don't know if they'll show up with guns-a-blazing at my door if I disclose anything, especially since they took them down so quickly.

Hi,
I feel the same way about disclosing details ( they will probably change).
But...

There are some nomenclature changes and at least one seemingly major change to the Web Component Server/Web Connector ( like replacing it with a new service)..

We'll see what actually is new sometime in the new year ( I have heard, first quarter)..

Bummer, I wanted to see the info on V11 too.

Below is a snippet regarding v11 from the Ablaze Group Newsletter (email date 12/13/2004) - December 2004 - it comes the Business Objects International User Conference 2004

"There was little Crystal "news" of consequence, save for the announcement of a new "name" for the next release of Crystal products. Previously referred to as "version 11", the next release of Crystal will be referred to as "XI". Known as Business Objects XI, the suite update will include updated versions of Crystal Reports and Crystal Enterprise. A small peek at the updated web-based enterprise product was shown in a conference general session. While the updated product retains much of the functionality of the existing Crystal Enterprise 10, additional "classic" Business Objects document types will be integrated. Business Objects XI is currently in a beta release status."

So I guess XI is not going to make it in 2004?

It would be a great pity if the name 'Crystal' was lost. Having 'B O' doesn't sound like something you'd boast of, at least not in British English.

Yeah, I try to refer to Business Objects as BOX or BOBJ ;-).

~Kurt

Ken,
Unfortunately the Ablaze Group Newsletter did not make any mention of the release date. I have been trying to get feedback from Business Objects on the release date of XI but so far haven't received a response.

When I purchased the upgrade to Crystal 10 my sales person from Business Objects told me that Crystal XI would be available early in 2005. Her words were probably sometime in January!!! But for all of those of us that are in the software business we know that deadlines and release dates aren't allways met. I for one am looking forward to seeing Crystal XI soon.

Cristina

as rhinok says, BObj would do the job.

Well, I work for classic Crystal, and you will be glad to know that this AM was the official press release of Business Objects' latest version of Crystal Reports XI.

It's a pretty amazing product. I've been using it for a while now and am extremely excited to start seeing all of you use it too.

I'll see if I can find the latest PDF's for public sharing too; but for now, there's all sorts of new things to be read at.

Isn't that supposed to be the biggest mistake you can make in marketing ... to throw away a well-known and highly-regarded brand name, such as Crystal.

Also, as Madawc rightly says, the letters BO have rather unfortunate connotations, especially here in Britain.

All the docs for version ex-eye (watch the ad!) are here:

The press release includes this....
"Availability
BusinessObjects XI began shipping in December 2004 and is currently available on Windows. BusinessObjects XI is expected to be available on all major platforms and languages progressively throughout the first half of 2005."

The only rider to this is you just can't buy it yet:)-)
The online store has no version 11 products.

The online store finally has CR XI.
However, the download is running pretty slow today.
