I am able to query the CPU type and speed on our HP-UX and Sun servers.

In AIX, I used the lsattr -El proc0.

The frequency does not seem to match what I have in my notes.

Is there a better way to query CPU type and speed?

AIX 5.2

You can also try:

prtconf | more

the cpu speed should be in the first screen.

Add a little color to your PUTTY terminal: faq52-6627

or

pmcyles -m

Nice command Mike. I tried it on AIX 5.3 and it works fine but not on AIX 5.2.

Have a star on that!

Probably a little more details that what you need, but nmon can show you the processor speed and much, much more about how a system is configured (hardware and patch level).

Try this:

Finding out Proc Speed

lsattr -E -l proc0 -a frequency -F value

value is shown in Hz.

You will need to /1000000 to show mhz.
