Hi guys (and gals)

I have just build a new machine and succeed in transfering
my old 98se to the new machine. No trouble for the time
being expect that there is a couple of things that bothering
me :

1. What cpu frequency should it be for an Anthlon 1600+xp
2. What dram frequency should be set for this (I am using
pc133 SDRAM)
3. Any window freeware for checking the above items?
4. My bios (AMI) can show the hardware information such as
cpu fan speed, cpu temp. and stuff like that but it has to be
done by using the bios setup. Anything for that information
when the machine is running windows?

It seems that my bios setup cannot set the cpu frequency (in
fact it didn't even show it). Is that a normal thing? Or is it
that the board is intelligent enough to detect my cpu and ram
and set the frequencies on its own?

Any help will be much appreciated

Forgive me if I am completely wrong but I thought:
100/133
14X for SDram or
133/133
10.5 for DDram
The XP 1600+ is of course a 1400mhz processor, that I am sure of!
You are correct in assuming most modern motherboards auto detect ram and CPU settings/voltage requirements etc.
But you WILL be able to see the settings in the bios, press delete on first boot.

Just wondering, why are you using PC133 with an Athlon XP? I was just curious.

Very simple, I just want to save some money and the board
supports both SDRAM & DDRs.

When the machine boots, I can only see processor speed 1050+
Have I been cheated?

No, you haven't been cheated!

The BIOS is not correctly set - my Athlon XP 1600+ also "autodetected" at 1050Mhz.

This is because the default setting for the front side bus has been set to 100Mhz, but the multiplier is correctly set at 10.5. Most BIOSes do this, since the most conservative settings (defaults) are the safest.

If all your RAM is 133Mhz, then you should be able to change the frequency in the BIOS to 133Mhz, and the next time you boot, the processor will detect at 1400Mhz.

I hope this helps

Absolutely correct, when they design a board they have to assume the worste senarios , people trying to use old PC100 ram etc so default failsafes are set accordingly.
Manually set for PC 133, refer to manual and as Citrix Engineer said you will then have a full powered XP.
