Hi folks:

I am running win2k pro and a recent problem occured. I found That the cpu is over -clocking at 100% and nothing is really running. The machine is very slow in all its
responds and tasks. My machine speed is 2 Gig and under normal circumstances this is very fast. Doe's anyone out there have any suggestions what the problem could be and
provide a resolution.

Thanks: JT.....

JT;

I am assuming you mean that the CPU is running at 100%. Over clocking is a completely different issue where you, by changing BIOS settings, force the CPU to run faster than factory specs.
Having said that, we need more info. First, open Task Manager and find out what process is running at 100% and let us know. Secondly, was any new software installed, or hardware? Have you done a virus scan?

Ed Please let me know if the suggestion(s) I provide are helpful to you.

Gentleman:

Thank you for your help. after reviewing all the tasks and processing that were taking place I could not see anything running at a high percentage rate. confused i unloaded service pack three thinking this was a problem(no dice). I then reloaded windows 2000 pro clean(i wish to think so)and the
problem was still there. after a few days thinking about the situation I decided to run JV16 powertools ver 1.1.62 and review all the
registry entries and found 167 invaled entries and removed all of them. I then reloaded(IPL)windows and wow this machine
was moving like a streak of lighting.

I want to thank you folks for your suggestions. JT..........
