Hi
I hope someone one can help me out. I have a SS CPPM card that keeps resetting. There is nothing obvious in the AHST so plugged direct to the SS.
I get this error every 20 seconds:

LOG0003 NPM: cmEvRASTimeout: GK (TLAN IP address of SS) Registration

As far as I know this is a replacement card, not the original. The original card went bang about two three weeks ago and a used replacement was installed. The HDD was fine so was moved from the faulty card to the replacement. The MAC address was changed via element manager and all was ok apart from the above message every 20sec.
In the last week the replacement falls over every hour or so, comes back, registers the phones, work again for an hour or so and goes down again.
The only error I can see is this Timout message.
Any ideas? Or anyone had a similar issue with an SS card?

There was a bulletin that came out a while back where the CPPM cards had defective memory. I will try and find it

Ok Thank you. Ill have a look tomorrow and see if these are indeed what is causing the issue as described.

Hi

I'm looking at the memory issue at the moment. On another note, any ides why i keep getting this LOG0003 NPM: cmEvRASTimeout: GK (TLAN IP address of SS) Registration message. The IP address given is the ip address for the TLAN side of the SS card.

Thanks

Sounds like it is trying to register to NRS on that same card. Is NRS deployed and configured? If not, you'll get that error.

Thanks for all the responses. I just want to give an update on the fix. As per the link posted above re the issue with RAM, the CPPM card did have the suspect RAM as described in the AVAYA bulletin. Unfortunately I was unable to replace the RAM so will never find out if that was the cause, although I am sure it was. I replaced the card in the end for a spare.

With regards to the “LOG0003 NPM: cmEvRASTimeout: GK (TLAN IP address of SS) Registration” message this is not service affecting so if it isn’t broke don’t fix it!

Thanks again.

The RAM was most likely not your issue.
I have dealt with many of these and the issue with the RAM is 'no information to screen" 99% of the time.

Ok thanks CollegeFootball. Question.. I've had a few of these go and the only common factor has been that the sites have been subjected to numerous power failures causing the cs1k to ini/reboot. Do these cards suffer from this as a rule?

Avaya CS1000 CPPM packs equipped with suspect memory modules could experience failure to reboot after being power cycled off/on.
Symptom is CPPM pack will not display any information on the console after a power cycle event
