From release 3 and upwards software it appears that we can now configure the CPP or CPIV processors to switch during the midnight routines as apposed to previous software release.
Has anyone had any issues relating to allowing their CPP or CPIV machines to switch during midnights?
Are there any known problems and does anyone know if it is recommended?

You can specify if you want it to swap during the midnight routines in LD 17 (OVLY). There is a prompt MID_SCPU prompt. (Allow/Deny Midnight Routine swapping of CPUs.) If it's set to "NO" then your CPUs should not be swapping during midnights.

On the newer CPU's you do not need to be swapping the CPU's as often as the older ones, and normally wouldn't have it set, and especially if you are running applications such as CCM (Symposium).

I have used it and it worked with zero issues on 3.0 and 4.5

It is known that CPU switch-overs can cause ELAN problems with Pentium processors. Best not do it. Nortel say it is no longer necessary.

The CPU's will switch over only if there is a health state change.Leave it set to no, by doing this instead of swapping cores the PBX does a 3PE to 3PE test.

HASGRO, I have a OPT-81C with rls 4.5,call pilot, symp, sig servers, pentium processors and the whole nine yards, We have our system swapping every nite, and doesn't seem to
cause any problems.
FYI

Do you notice if you ever get any ELAN errors, check your history file to see.

Just checked AHST files i do not have any ELAN error's
The only problem I've had in the past is the Flash Rom card's in the processor's got jacked up, and the system won't switch over and had to buy new one's.

I had some PBX's that would INI just from pulling out a ELAN connection, because if the health change..never really bothered going any further with troubleshooting it, even though I know it is not right, I just try to not unplug anything during hours.
