I built a phantom to ring one station and then after 3 rings, rings to the 2nd station. After ringing the 2nd station, it has to cover to voice mail. VM is not picking up which is my hung 7999. Am I missing something?

hi KCFLHRC -

I put SFA in CLS. I test dialed 6840, it rang to 36840, and then rang to 36841 but 7999 vm never picked up. SOmething else?

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? The design of the PBS is it will only forward twice. So if your # is 7300 and you want it to forward to 7301 and then 7301 to 7302 then that's as many times as it will forward.

Why do you have bot the FDN and DCFW defined the the FTR's? You should only have DCFW if it is truly a phantom.

I need to have ext 36840 ring three times and then 36841 ring three times and then drop into voice mail. I created a phantom extenson of 6840 so the call forwarding would not impact the reps primary line.

Regardless of what you are trying to do remember that in a Nortel PBX the phone will forward a maximum of 2 times and you need to put SFA in the second phones CLS. So if you call 36840 and it forwards to 36841 put SFA in 36841 and then forward it to VM. That's as much as this switch will do.

GOTCHA - with the limitation of 2 fowards since it goes from 6840 to 36840 and then 36841, VM 7999 will never pick up.

What do you recommend on setup? ring phone 1, phone 2 and then vm?

That's exactly what you will have to do. Phone 1 then phone 2 then VM. That is your only option.

now if I do that, that will impact their priviate primary extensions?

I don't know your exact set up. Is 36840 the boss and 36841 the secretary? Is that your set up? If it is then it will have no affect on their individual extensions. The system is smart enough to know what Ext. was originally dialed. So if you call 36840 and it forwards to 36841 and 36841 is forwarded to VM then the caller will end up in 36840 mailbox.
