I've recently been given the responsibility of upgrading, programming, and administering my company's Merlin Magix system. Unfortunately, this is not my area of expertise.

The Powers-That-Be recently asked me to setup coverage between three different extentions. Basically what they want is this: Say a call comes in to ext 100, and the person doesn't pickup right away; they then want the phone to ring to ext 101, and then to ext 102. All the while the caller should hear no more than six rings before it goes to ext 100's voicemail.

We have this setup already between our ext 100, 103, and 106, so I know it can be done. Problem is, I didn't set this up originally, and the documentation I have is Greek to me.

Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated (in spirit, not monetarily ;-))

Thanks in advance!

Anthony

Okay, here it goes:

1) Extension 100 in this case is the coverage sender. All cover delay settings will be based from this extension.

2) If extension 101 is to ring first it must have a button programmed as PrmryCov 100 -I. You can go through WinSPM's Telephone Programming, choose extension 101 and then pull down the Coverage selection for a Blank button. Then you can designate the Coverage as Primary. Then you assign that it is Primary Coverage for extension 100.

3) If extension 102 is to ring second it must have a button programmed as SecndCov 100 -I. You can go through WinSPM's Telephone Programming, choose extension 102 and then pull down the Coverage selection for a Blank button. Then you can designate the Coverage as Secondary. Then you assign that it is Secondary Coverage for extension 100.

4) Next you can set the number of rings for covering 100. Go through Standard SPM and follow Extensions-->Cover Delay-->Primary-->enter the 100 as sender-->enter desired # of rings. Then follow Extensions-->Cover Delay-->Secondary-->enter 100 as sender-->enter desired # of rings.

If you don't have WinSPM step 4 can be done at an operator display phone and steps 2 and 3 can be done at the phones themselves by entering in the corresponding feature codes.

Let me know if this helps or if you don't have access to WinSPM.
