Coverage Path Question

I have an analog Spectralink(3579) phone that I want to set up a coverage path for. I want the Spectralink to ring 4 times and then cover to a digital desk phone(3822) and then hit the desk phone's voicemail. I set up a new coverage path 283 for 3579. In Coverage Path 283 point 1 is set to 3822. It works now when I call 3579 it sends the call to 3822 after 4 rings, but it won't go to 3822's voicemail it just keeps ringing. But if I call 3822 directly after 4 rings it goes to 3822's voicemail. Any ideas what I need to change? Thanks Travis

You are trying to send VM to someone else's voice mail and it's not easily done. It's been discussed here several time and I think this may require a vector to do it.

The coverage path works going to it's own VM because thats how it is supposed to be. Sending calls to 6 points of coverage will also work , but not to someone's (other than the originally dialed number) voice mail.

You can do a search at the top of the page on this and find all sorts of other post about this.

you need to route the second coverage point to a vdn with a vector. In the vector have a step: messageing split xxx(voicemail hunt group) extension 3822

What type of VM system do you have? Audix LX, Octel, and Mod Messaging can achieve this without adding VDN if you have 1 of those systems.

Try this.
Create a cover path for the 3579 and have it pointing to the 3822 as Point1, then in Point2 put the coverage pathe that points to your VM.

If your application is that you want a wireless phone as an extension of a desk phone, you can do a couple of things:

1. Admin the call appearance of the cordless as a bridged appearance of button 1 on the desk phone. Then just have callers ring the desk phone. The cordless will ring at the same time.
2. If you want the cordless to ring first, then go to the desk and then to v/m of the desk, just give the desk a coverage path that immediately (or as quick as can be) cover to the cordless for a few rings, then to the desk's extension for a few, then to the v/m system. Have callers ring the desk.

Neither of these has the cordless being dialed.
