Earned Value Management.

Can someone who has appeared /passed PMP exam answer this question?

What is the depth of coverage of Earned Value Management in the exam? Is it enough if you know EVM concepts such as EV, PV, AC, CPI, SPI etc or Do you have to know all 32 CAPs as suggested by ANSI standard and their application/interpretation?
Do you remember the complexity and type of questions?
Thanks in advance.

There were several questions on my test. Not only did I need to know the terms, their interpretation and how to calculate them, necessary and inapppropriate numbers were given in a lengthy paragraph so you had to figure out what components were needed. I don't know what the "32 CAPS" are. My studying included BCWP, ACWP, BCWS, BAC, AC, SV, CPI, SPI, ETC, EAC, VAC & was sufficient.

Thank you Elizabeth. I was reading a book "Earned Value Management" by Queen Quentin Fleming and Joel Koppelman. This is one of the books in PMP Resource-Lite. This is a well written book on EVM. At the end, there was a description of 32 CAPs ( Control Account Plans). I found them a little diffcult to comprehend and interpret them in the proper perspectice and context. That is the reason why, I was wanting to know the depth of coverage of EVM in the PMP exam. Your answer was very helpful.

As you have gone through the process, could you tell me which books are good for the examination other than PMBOK?

There are many recommended books amd with limited time, a hint in the right direction will be very helpful.

Thanks again.

Garnet, ypu're welcome. You will find my answers to your questions about PMP prep, and others, in the threads that contain "PMP" or "PMI" in the title. There are only a few, but they are long ones. If you search I think you will find a lot of good advice. Good luck on your exam, and after you take it, please consider posting your reaction in the thread with that title.
