I am a beginner to Access and this is my first database I have created. I am creating a report that looks at a query. Each record has a field called 'category' associated with it. There are 10 different categories and on the report, I have the entries sorted and grouped by their category. I am trying to make the report, count the number of entries in each category so that I may chart these numbers. I can not figure out how to do this. Any help would be appreciated.

Ang,

In your Category group footer, add a text box whose control source is: =Count(*)

When you say in the category group footer, do you mean in the footer of the report?

No. You said you have the report grouped by category. Is there a "Category footer"?? If not, you can add one through the Sorting and Grouping dialog box. With your category field selected, change Group Footer to Yes. This will insert the group footer in your report and you can place the count text box there....
