How can I perform the equivalent of a

"SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT columnname)"

statement in Microsoft Access? It seems to work in other databases, but Access doesn't like the format.

Short answer, you can't. Not that I'm aware of anyway. When you need this you have to do it in two steps.

Q1:

select distinct colname from x

Q2:
select count(colname) from Q1 Best Regards,
Mike
