Again, should be easy, but I'm missing something.

My report looks like this:

PCs

GX520 No. 1
GX520 No. 2
GX520 No. 3

Total GX520 3

GX270 No. 1
GX270 No. 2

Total GX270 2

Total PCs [red]5[/red] This is the number I'm not getting.

What number are you getting?
What expression are you using?
What report section contains the total PCs text box?
Have you tried the standard text box with a control source of:
=Count(*)

Device Type (Header)
Model No. (Header)
Detail Control Source =1
Model No. (Footer) Need Total by Model No.
Device Type (Footer) Need Total by Device Type

Device Type PC (Header)
Model No. GX520 (Header)
Detail (GX520) 1 ControlSource=1
Detail (GX520) 1
Detail (GX520) 1
Model No. GX520 (Footer) = 3 GX 520s
Model No. GX270 (Header)
Detail (GX270) 1
Detail (GX270) 1
Model No. GX270 (Footer) = 2 GX 270s
Device Type PC (Footer) = sould be5but no matter what I try I do not get Total By Device, I either get Total by Model, or Total Devices. I need to break it down one more step.

Sorry for the confusing explanation.

If you add a text box in a group or report footer and set the control source to:
=Count(*)
You will display the number of records within that group or within the report. You should not use a running sum or reference a running sum.

Yes. That worked. I could swear I've tried that more than once, but only got the running total for the entire report. Obviously, I had it in the wrong footer.

Thanks.
