count and group by

Hi!
I am starting with BO and I find problems counting the different values of a field. I would like to do with BO what I usually do with the SQL command: 'SELECT count( item) FROM Table WHERE condition GROUP BY' .Can anyone of you help me doing this?

for example if you want to do sums for all the cities of a country, you should break your report by city, i mean put the object -
-
-
( at the top of your editor) on the city and then define the sum (with the calculator)
