We are using Networker server 6.1.1 on Win 2000 server - with ATL library.
I have to recover about 15 GB of data to our Netware client.
When server reads the first tape after recovering about 4 MB of data the drive goes into cycle and following messages can be seen:
"\\.\Tape0 moving:fsr 167:The semaphore timeout has expired"
"Media emergency:could not position ... to file ...record ..."
I have checked the drive, the HW test shows no error. Our vendor tested the whole library without any errors from tape drives.

Any tips are welcome.

Many thanks

Josef

Can you recover the same data from another time period (meaning another tape)? I would lean toward bad data unless this occurs with all recoveries, then you may want to look at your Novell server and make sure it has all the appropriate patches.

Thanks for reply.
I have completed the recover process from another tape drive (with the first drive disabled) without problem!
But our vendor says all drives are O.K. .....

Josef

Make sure that all of the drives have the correct configuration settings and aren't set to the wrong drive type.
