Hi,

Our cash drawer stopped responding to commands in the Aloha POS software.

This is what we see when we touch the terminal screen before it shows us the keycode on the screen for our people to sign in using their ID:

I replaced the cable and tested the drawer response using the control panel OPOS tests and it opens just fine, knows the state correctly (open or closed) and can get it to respond no problem.

The Aloha system can't find it. It's setup as OPOS RSDirect.CD1 in Aloha Manager and as far as I know nothing changed from when it was working to when it stopped working.

What do I need to check? It's plugged in to Cash Drawer 1 on the POS terminal as it should be.

I was getting this same error and restarting all terminals resolved issue. End-user reported that term1 (which has cash drawer connected), had temporarily lost power. This was a 3 terminal system, so I shutoff all terminals, then started term1 first. Once that term was up a running, I started term2, then term3. Not sure if there is an easier fix, but this resolved the error for me.
 
Does that CD work properly on another terminal?
If you've got another CD port it'd be worth a shot trying it in that port. Also, make sure that you've got the . between RSDirect.CD1
It sounds like a communication issue and running the CD off another terminal would help narrow the issue down.
