Hi Guys,
Well this one has me stumped!
Installed Arcserve 2000 fine logged on and set up backup job that worked ok.
Next day attempt to log on to check status of bk job and got "caroot" login error. System can not authenticate caroot.
I tried the fixes in the troubleshooting guide in help and after running "ca_auth -user getall" from the cmd line.
It comes back with error "Get users failed reason: cannot connect to caauthd".
All services are running ok "Caroot" shows up as the user at the bottom of the login screen along with the correct server name.
Why will "caroot" not authenticate????????

Is the BrightStor AB Domain Server service running on the ARCserve server ??

Yes both these services are running and I have stopped and started them serveral times to no avail.

Hi,

I had a similar error during a disaster recovery test. I installed W2K on a server and gave the server a name. I then installed arcserve but later had to change the server name. I got the caroot login error from then on. I reinstalled Arcserve and it worked fine after that.

Mia

Sounds like a reinstall then.
