I use wondering if i could connect my tower to my tv to play video plays. Is this possible and if so, what extra's
do I need for the hook up.

easy as cake.
just have to get a graphics card with a TV out feature. this can get a tad bit expensive though. at all in wonder (cheap kind) is about 70-80 bucks. i have a geforce 3 and it has a tv out feature hooked up to a 52 inch big screen =)

hope that helped
btw.. do all your price checking on

Hi Jared,
I have a tv wonder ve card install in my computer already,
Would this card do the same thing. Do I need any special software.

Unfortunately, your card is strictly a "capture" card and doesn't have a TV Out. At least that's what I could tell from reading this chart:

Any card that comes with TV Out built-in will contain software to help you configure it.

All the software you need should have come with the vid card....Hardware should have too, but just in case it didn't, it would help to have the cables as stated by the instructions for the card...just go to the manufacturers website if you need to look it up real quick. That should be all you will need. Hope this helps! Jay [atom]

how about a Visiontek GeForce2 MX400 64MB TV Out AGP?
you can get it for $42 (without shipping) at:

*i have no connection with ENPC.com or any site i enter.

I have a Visiontek card and that are top quality and offer great support. This card has your TV-out feature and is AGP 4x. this card is NOT ddr. but for $42 its well worth it!

hope that helped

Great suggestion from all of you. I'll do some reseach on which card to purchase, and hopefully I will get back to you and tell you how well it pan out for me. Thank you again all

You may not get as good a resolution on a TV. If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

The max resolution on a tv i 800x600, but the most important thing to remember is that a tv is much more blurry than a monitor (I forget the exact technical reason why), but for playing games and watching movies is it fine.

For starters, there are at least two major differences in the way images are displayed on your TV versus your monitor (aside from resolution):

1) Video Bandwidth
2) Dot Pitch

The average CRT monitor has a dot pitch of .28 or better. TV's don't have a rating but generally fall short of .32, which causes blurry text at fonts less than 16-point.

Read more about Video Bandwidth here:

I`m using a Jetway 6000, Ge force mx2(64mb).....workks good enough for me on tv for vcd`s....ok I know the quality is better on monitor....but is good enough for me. If your unsure....Dont do it!

TV-Out is targeted for video and not text...
