I had my main profile on my xp machine corrupted. So i followed the advice given that i have found at the microsoft site. On makin a new profile and moving everything, etc. So after i do this and reboot, it still does not load up any of my personal settings. It loads up my profile name, but i believe its using the personal settings in a TEMP profile that exists in my C:\Documents and Settings\TEMP folder. When i go to change users, this profile does not exist. Also when i try to delete this folder it says "TEMP is a Windows System folder and is required for Windows to run properly. It can not be deleted." Everytime i reboot any personal settings i saved are lost. Thanks for any insight :

Yes, I found this fix at Microsoft. It worked for the most part, as i no longer get a corrupt profile message. Now it just constantly loads a temp profile no matter what i do. It does not give me any errors about a corrupted profile. The user name i specified for this profile, is the profile name that loads, but the settings i personalized, all disappear everytime i reboot. There is only one user on the computer .... but when i go to c:\documents and settings, there is also a TEMP folder. Every solution I found on websites does not mention a scenario as mine.

I just had this problem on oone of my networked XP pc connected to a w2k server. I deleated the user that had the problem the recreated the user. thepc with the corrupt file error fixed fine.the other xp workstation loaded the new user into a new profile. I will just copy over the old profile.
