On my winMe system my systray icons get corrupted (color and icon itself). They however work fine. No other icons on the desktop are affected. I have searched all posts, MS help files etc and cant find and info on this subject. I have tried increasing/clearing my Icon cache with no luck.
Any help would be appreciated. Zero Mistakes = Zero Experience

it could be possible that you either 1. have a virus or 2. the registry setting is corrupt try to restore your registry setting

Which registry thread ?
Thanks Zero Mistakes = Zero Experience

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\SysTray\Services

Thanks for the feedback. The registry setting shows a hex value of 'e' which I think is correct. Still looking... Zero Mistakes = Zero Experience

Thanks for the response Mrfixit. Unfortunately the iconcache does not seem to be related to the systray. I have tried deleting it, used Tweakui to repair etc. but with no luck. The rest of the icons on the desktop are fine ,its just the Systray icons which are visually corrupted, but otherwise work fine.
THanks again Zero Mistakes = Zero Experience

Hi,
Has anyone mentioned that the problem could well be a video driver issue.

If you have upgraded your video driver at anypoint try loading the original back on and see if that cures it.

Regards.

Yup tried that. Even Changed Video cards with no luck. Thanks for the suggestion.

I read in a Win98 tip that the ShellIconCache must be deleted from a DOS mode restart.
Set Windows to "show all files".
Make a WinMe boot disk, restart with the floppy in the drive and hit F5 when the Start options appear.
Type at c:\Windows\>del shelliconcache

Good luck!

Tried that too. Its only the Systray icons, the rest have always been fine. Can't seem to figure it out. Even used Msconfig to selectively eliminate each exec that creates the systray icons with no luck. Zero Mistakes = Zero Experience
