Corrupted Save As and Browser Function in Word and Excel 1

Using Office 2003 Professional and having an issue using the Save As function, it hangs. The browser function also freezes the application when I click on the drop down menu in the Save as Window. I've removed and reinstalled, applied updates, but no such luck. I want to point out that browsing and Save as function works fine if I open up a notepad.

Pleaseeee advise.
